Officials

CYO Officials are essential to ensuring a positive and meaningful athletic experience for every player. Each official is expected to uphold the highest standards of character and integrity. They must be knowledgeable of CYO rules, apply them fairly, and promote good sportsmanship throughout every contest. In their professional attire, punctuality, and interactions with coaches, staff, and spectators, officials serve as visible representatives of the Mission, Values, and Philosophy of CYO.

To be assigned games, all officials are required to:

  • Submit a yearly registration fee of $40.00, which supports a fund for athletic scholarships.
  • Attend a pre-season officials’ meeting for each sport they officiate
  • Be Virtus certified

Post-Game Report

Officials are required to submit a Post-Game Report immediately following every assigned contest. This report ensures accurate record-keeping, accountability, and consistency across all CYO events.

  • Final score and results
  • Game feedback (field conditions, sportsmanship, conduct)
  • Any incidents (cautions, send-offs, injuries, forfeits, etc.)
  • Names, uniform numbers, and parishes of individuals involved in incidents
  • A clear and precise description of the situation, along with the official’s actions taken

All reports are reviewed by CYO leadership to help maintain a safe and positive environment for players, coaches, and spectators. Timely and accurate reporting is an important responsibility of every official.
